These beads are on 15 - 16 inch strands, temporarily strung, usually on monofilament (plastic fishline).
The holes are relatively small, the regulation hole, about 1mm. In other words, you won't be putting thick leather through them. They are drilled top to bottom.
Like the donuts, it appears their time has come and gone.
