About 4 1/2 inches long. For you city folks who've never been around beavers let me tell you, they are not docile reclusive creatures. My first beaver adventure was when I was 9 fishing alone out in a boat at night on my uncle's pond. The beaver slapped his tail about 3 feet from the boat without warning and nearly gave me a heart attack (dramatic foreshadowing). They often don't disappear when you invade their pond. They swim around with that bothered look a teenager gets when she is asked to wait for her 8 year old brother while he picks out a wooden sword in my store.
